Promethean State of the Union: Where We’ve Been, Where We Are, Where We’re Going
Aditya Singh created Promethean to solve a problem — an origin story as old as time. But in this case, the industry didn’t realize it had one. After beginning his oil and gas career in 1996, Aditya was struck by how consistently operators deferred, deprioritized, and quietly neglected late-life assets. Not out of malice, but because an operational model with the precision and discipline to extract every last barrel simply didn’t exist.
When given a chance to dig deeper into late-life research for a project, Aditya jumped at the chance. He locked himself in a room for two days, investigating whether or not there was a better way forward.
And spoiler: There was. Aditya applied his findings in the field, extending an asset’s lifecycle by four years. Filled with conviction that these assets deserved better, he devoted the next chapter of his career to pressure-testing that theory.
Years later, Aditya founded Promethean based on the belief that responsible exits are just as important as strong entries, and companies that plan retirement from Day 1 will outperform those that don’t, operationally, financially, and environmentally.
In 2025, we built the foundation that took our model from concept to tried-and-true, scalable reality. Buckle up and keep reading to learn how last year’s progress is informing this year’s growth.
First Things First: The Numbers
We can spend all day telling you that late-to-end-of-life optimization is the intuitive choice for operators who want to prioritize operations, finances, and the environment. But numbers always speak louder than words.
In 2025, we achieved zero spills, lost-time incidents, and incidents of non-conformance across all regulatory requirements. Why does it matter? It’s proof that responsible stewardship isn’t just “the right thing” to do. It’s the smartest way forward on every level.
Operations: Supermajor Standards Meet Startup Speed
The backbone of every successful company is a strong operational framework. For a company that aims to rewrite the rules for late-to-end-of-life asset management and prove that responsible stewardship is the best decision for operators, disciplined, transparent, and highly strategic operations matter more than ever.
We carefully designed an operating model that brings supermajor rigor to late-life work without supermajor drag.
Efficiency: Lower Footprint, Lower Cost
In 2025, we delivered projects 12% under budget across all operations. By applying financial discipline, total transparency, and careful planning to each, Promethean makes late-to-end-of-life asset management equally beneficial to clients’ budgets and the environment.
We optimize base locations to reduce fuel consumption and shorten vessel trips, reducing emissions and total costs. We tailor equipment strategies to minimize the marine assets required on site. Installing platform cranes eliminates the need for separate crane vessels.
Each of these decisions shrinks the offshore footprint, and with it, the carbon output, risk exposure, and environmental impact of every operation. And of course, the overall cost to operators.
Sustainability: The Impact of Doing It Right
The industry doesn’t often cover what happens when assets aren’t closed out correctly. Improperly decommissioned wells leak, abandoned platforms become hazards, and environmental liability compounds for decades.
In 2025, Promethean reduced carbon emissions by more than 215 tons through operational efficiencies and responsible decommissioning practices. Every sealed well, every retired platform, every unnecessary vessel trip avoided means less methane, less waste, less exposure, and less left behind.
Scale: A Seamless Way Forward
A single decommissioning project runs through dozens of stakeholders: contractors, regulators, service providers, and partners. We manage that complexity through direct communication and a level of accountability that is still rare in the offshore industry.
Our supply chain is built on real performance data, predictable contract structures, and compliance from Day 1. We prioritize best-fit partners over lowest-cost bids, because the cheapest option up front is rarely the cheapest option in the end.
Safety: The Foundation of Everything Else
Every morning before work begins offshore, our team pulls real safety bulletins from incidents around the world. Powered by specific insights selected for the tasks crews will take on in the next 12 hours, our teams move forward with more confidence and discretion, while spending less time searching for solutions that already exist. These meetings are as much about efficiency as safety.
We also know that true safety and efficiency are rooted in transparency. To connect the dots and enable our teams to continuously grow safer and sharper every day, we integrated our Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) with our digital infrastructure and offshore operations.
Visual intelligence systems also help us continually evolve our workplace standards by monitoring crew behavior and identifying areas for improvement along the way.
In 2025, we hired Martyn Fear as Chief Operating Officer. Martyn’s 42 years in the industry took him from the Arctic Circle with Schlumberger to drilling optimization across BP’s global operations to leading offshore operations in Newfoundland, a community that had never stopped mourning the 84 workers it lost to offshore incidents.
For Martyn, safety and operational excellence are personal. We’re thrilled for Martyn to lead us into our next chapter.
Technology: Better Data. Better Outcomes.
For too long, late-life asset management has run on institutional memory, outdated records, and best guesses. Crews showed up on aging platforms with limited data and figured it out as they went. That era is ending.
When we can point to actual numbers that prove how we can extend a field’s productive life, or the exact moment when decommissioning becomes the smarter economic decision, we turn asset roulette into a structured, proven roadmap to economic and environmental value.
Digital Foundations: Total Operational Transparency
In 2025, we built the digital infrastructure to replace guesswork with precision. Real-time operational dashboards now give our team visibility into field performance as it happens, not days or weeks later in a report. Our tools process and normalize vendor costs across projects, making every dollar visible and auditable from the moment it’s spent.
AI Roadmap: Offshore’s Next Operating Layer
We’re applying AI to offshore decommissioning and late-life asset management in the Gulf of America to enable a level of accuracy, transparency, and speed that was not possible before.
Engineering reviews that took weeks of manual work are being compressed into hours. Well-abandonment strategies are developed from decades of field data. Visual intelligence cameras deployed offshore are monitoring crew behavior and flagging safety risks in real time. Every step forward elevates visibility, precision, and protection across the operation.
In June, our Digital and AI Lead, John Boyd, will take the stage at the NOIA/OOC Offshore CCS & New Frontiers Symposium at Rice University’s Baker Institute to introduce offshore’s first integrated AI roadmap to industry leaders. We’re beyond excited to lead the conversation about what technology-enabled offshore management looks like.
Our Team: Veterans, Builders, and Fresh Eyes
Industry veterans are essential. But so are fresh perspectives. Our HR Director, Monique Schlanger, hires for both. She looks for talent willing to take risks and think outside the box. For example, when evaluating one candidate who came on full-time, Monique recognized a resume section that perfectly fit the bill. The candidate was the only female petroleum engineering student in her class to choose a semester in Saudi Arabia. “That’s the kind of courage and curiosity we need at Promethean,” she reflects. “You’re looking for what their experiences can bring them to do next.”
This philosophy runs through every hire. The result? A team with the conviction that there is a big difference between “never been done” and “can’t be done.”
We’re Just Getting Started
60% of offshore platforms are now more than 25 years old. The backlog is accelerating. And now, the industry finally has a partner with the precision, transparency, and discipline to manage mature assets through to the very end.
As our operations scale, we’re committed to redressing the balance of offshore assets at the stage most beneficial to the owner. We’ll continue to advance our supermajor standards, asset-light agility, project management excellence, and AI suite to elevate both late-life production and decommissioning.
Sustainability isn’t just about inventing infrastructure to support a world after fossil fuels. It equally involves the responsible management of what’s already here.
Here’s to what’s next!
